Kat and Mark – Owen House Wedding Barn

Wow! our first visit to Owens House Wedding Barn.  A very cool venue, and the location of Kat and Mark’s wedding this autumn. Owen House Wedding Barn is located near Manchester, just off the M56, so very handy for us traveling from our base in Conwy, North Wales.  Even though we are now Conwy wedding photographers, we are still very happy about travelling to weddings over the border, although I have to say, finding Owens House Country Barn will be a lot easier when the nearby motorway junction is open for business again.

Owen House Barn, one of a new breed of wedding venues, likes to describe itself as “quirky”. It is a rustic country barn that has been given over for the purpose of weddings. The great thing about it is couples can add their own decorations and style and create something that is truly unique and special to them. Which is exactly what Kat and Mark did. We loved the orange autumn colour theme running throughout the day, and the guys blue suits which matched the rustic setting perfectly.

To make life easy, Kat and her family had stayed in the farmhouse at the venue the night before the wedding, thereby eliminating the need to worry about travelling on the day.  We arrived in good time to photograph the venue, the bridal preparations, guests as they arrived, and of course, Mark and his groomsmen who rolled up in a beautifully restored vintage VW camper van.

Don’t be fooled. It really is fizz in those cups – not tea!

After the wedding ceremony, Kat and Mark took a run out in the camper van to catch a few moments alone together and to share a glass or two of prosecco.  We followed along a respectful distance behind, and at a convenient bend in the road, we all pulled over for a few bride and groom photographs. Some featuring the camper van of course!
