They say every picture tells a story. We think this is never more true than at a wedding.
The buzz of excitement amongst the bride and her bridesmaids while they are getting ready; the nervousness of the groom while he waits for his bride to arrive.  Then, as the day unfolds and the nerves begin to melt away, we witness the happiness and the celebration, the antics of the guests, the fun of the party and moments of tenderness and love.
Here, you can browse images from our recent weddings and see how we lovingly photograph the story of your wedding.

Nant Gwrtheyrn wedding photography

Nant Gwrtheyrn is a wedding venue with a difference. It hangs in a remote cove above a wild stretch of beach, surrounded by tall mountains.  It really is totally unique.  A former granite quarry village, Nant Gwrtheyrn has been restored and is now the National Welsh Language and Heritage Centre. It doubles as a wonderful wedding venue with unlimited opportunities for great wedding photography.  Sara and Will are both adventurous types who love the great outdoors, and Nant Gwrtheyrn was an obvious choice for their wedding celebrations.

Our second wedding of the year took place at at the Quay Hotel and Spa in Deganwy, only ten minutes from our base in Conwy. Eve and Aidan’s wedding landed on a lovely bright February day. But don’t be fooled, the sky was blue but the temperature was still wintery cold, and it was very windy.  Not a good day for being outside for too long.

Combermere Abbey how have you eluded us for so long? Despite having photographed weddings all over Cheshire and surrounding counties for over ten years, this was our first time photographing a wedding at the impressive setting of Combermere Abbey. I hope it is not the last time!

Jennie and Dylan’s wedding took place on a fine summer day in Llandudno.  They decided on a small family wedding, and the St George’s Hotel accommodated their wishes perfectly. Whilst this was by no means the smallest wedding we have ever photographed, with around twenty guests it was our smallest wedding of the year, and all the guests played an important role in their day.

Back in the Summer we photographed Helen and Tom’s wedding at Helen’s family farm in Youlgrave.  It was all down to pure fluke of course, but how cool to plan your wedding for one of the sunniest days of the year.

Tracy and David’s wedding held an extra special significance for us as the first wedding we have photographed at our local venue Caer Rhun near Conwy, and also the first ever wedding reception to be held at the Mostyn Gallery in Llandudno.

Stephanie and Martin were lucky to have bright sunshine on their wedding day at the end of December. The days are short at this time of year and after family photographs and a few quick Bride and Groom shots outside, it was soon time to retreat to the warm and comfortable surrounds of Adlington Hall’s hunting lodge.

Our apologies for being a bit slack with our blogging in recent months. We have been very busy with weddings and on top of that, in May we re-located and moved our operation to a new home near Conwy in North Wales. I have no doubt we will continue to photography many more weddings in our old hunting grounds, and especially in Cheshire which is just a short hop along the A55.

This is a wedding we had been looking forward to since Lucy and Jason booked us at the Tatton Wedding Show over a year ago. They live in Bolton, but decided to tie the knot in the place where Lucy been coming for her annual holidays since childhood.  The picturesque village of Cadgwith clings to the rocky Lizard peninsular, and is where Lucy and her mum and dad and bridesmaids got ready in the morning.  As we were in our camper van, I decided to park the van in the car-park in St Ruan and walk down the hill rather than attempt to navigate the van round the narrow streets.

Stapleford Park Wedding Photography

This was another long awaited wedding as Ellie and Mike booked us at a wedding show in Derby two years ago. Since then, we had met up with them for a photoshoot in our studio.  Ellie is a very talented professional musician and Lois stumbled across her playing the piano at a wedding at Hassop Hall earlier in the year.

Abbeywood Estate wedding photography

The Abbeywood Estate and Gardens are located near Delamere in Cheshire, and well known as a botanical garden. In the summer months, the gardens are a blaze of colour and there’s no better place to hold a summer wedding, with opportunities all around for great wedding photographs.

Pimhill Barn Wedding

Pimhill Barn is an unique and amazing place to hold a wedding. The barn is a huge open space, delightfully rustic and crossed with timbers that have supported the roof for centuries. It is also a blank canvas for couples to design their own Pimhill Barn wedding, and fill with their own decorations, which is exactly what Alexia and Steve did on their wedding day.

Earlier in the year, we had visited Thornton Manor and were lucky enough to be shown around by a member of staff. We got to see all the function rooms as you would expect, but also the corridors that would have been used discretely by servants on their way to and from the kitchens. It had a touch of Downton Abbey about it!

The day after Stella and Chris’s wedding at Eastnor Castle, we were up bright and early and on the road again – this time to Hilltop Country House near Macclesfield for the wedding of Jenna and Ben. The morning started a little damp and overcast but improved as the day went on. In the evening were were treated to a beautiful sunset, and we were able to take advantage of the warm light and the lovely views and scenery from the top of the hill.

Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photography

Lizzie and Shaun are Buxtonians, and Lizzie did her Bridal prep. at her Mum and Dad’s house in Buxton, which made for an easy start to the day for us. When we arrived, hair and make-up were well underway. Fellow Peaks and Dales Weddings member Angie from Bliss Beuaty was doing the girls make-up and Tina of Beau Hair was fixing their hair.

Meifod Country House Hotel wedding photography

Just as the bridesmaids arrived at St Michael’s church in Gaerwen on Anglesey it began snowing. By the time Bethan and her Dad arrived at the church gate in a very smart Bentley, you could reasonably describe the conditions as a blizzard!  Of course the guests inside the church waiting for the ceremony to commence were oblivious to the weather outside and were a little incredulous when informed it was white over outside.

Caer Rhun is situated near Conwy in the shadow of the Carneddeau mountains, so for a wedding in late autumn we probably shouldn’t be too surprised to have a drop or two of rain. And rain it did!  But a drop of rain never spoiled any wedding day that we’ve been to, and Shona and David’s Caer Rhun wedding was no exception.

Louise and Rob married at Willington Hall in September.  They both live and work in Edinburgh, but decided to travel to Cheshire for their wedding celebrations, and made a weekend of it in the delightful private country house, Willington Hall.

I can’t tell you how much we had been looking forward to Hannah and John’s wedding.  Now we live in North Wales, we are REALLY looking forward to photographing weddings at our local North Wales venues. So Hannah and John – a massive thank you for granting us the privilege of photographing your wedding at Soughton Hall, near Mold in Wales.

The Great John Street Hotel is situated slap bang in the middle of Manchester. Once a school, it is now a bijou hotel and perfect for city centre weddings.  Zoe and her bridesmaids prepared for the wedding in a suite at the Great John Street Hotel, whereas the boys were staying a short walk away at the famous Midland Hotel and the first of three outings to the Midland this year for us.

Didsbury House describes itself as a “small luxury townhouse hotel” which sums it up perfectly. It’s almost as though it was designed with wedding photography in mind. It is located on the outskirts of Manchester and is one of the “Eclectic Hotels” chain. I mention this because purely by coincidence, we have another wedding at a different Eclectic Hotel in Manchester coming up soon in May, making this a timely blog post – even though the wedding featured here is from last summer. Better late than never! North West England is an easy trip for us from Conwy in North Wales.

Wow! our first visit to Owens House Wedding Barn.  A very cool venue, and the location of Kat and Mark’s wedding this autumn. Owen House Wedding Barn is located near Manchester, not far from the end of the runway at Manchester Airport, and very handy for us traveling from our base in Conwy, North Wales.  Even though we are now Conwy wedding photographers, we are still very happy about travelling to weddings over the border, and finding Owens House Country Barn will be a lot easier now the nearby motorway junction is open for business again.

An epic wedding deserves an epic blog post, so hold tight – there are a lot of images in this post.  Jenny and David love Venice so much they decided to tie the knot there. Who could fault their impeccable choice? If you’ve been, you’ll know.  Venice is beautiful, romantic, interesting and historic, and it’s warmer than the UK too.  If you’ve not been, put it on your bucket list.  It’s a magical city and a place like no other.  From a wedding photography perspective, it’s like a giant film set, with opportunities for images around every corner.

Our second Nunsmere Hall wedding, and I have to say I really, really like this venue and look forward to photographing more weddings here in the future. Both the house and the gardens are pretty, and unlike a lot of  venues that use a marquee for the reception, at Nunsmere Hall you can still use the house in the evening after the meal is over.

Eaves Hall Wedding Photography

This was a wedding we had been eagerly anticipating for a LONG time because Kirsty and Jordan booked us two years in advance (Kirsty is a teacher and as we know teachers are extremely well organised and know they need to book early to get the venue and suppliers of their choosing!).

Iscoyd Park Wedding Photography

We’re still not really sure whether Iscoyd Park is in Wales or England – It’s in the badlands between the two, but we did drive over an “Araf” on the road somewhere near, so we are going to mark it down as a Welsh wedding.

The day started with us photographing Emma and her Bridesmaids at Iscoyd Park, then crossing the border back into England to the old market town of Malpas in Shropshire, where Emma and Mike live.

Sarah got ready for her wedding day in the Romeo and Juliet suite at the Malmaison Hotel in the centre of Manchester. So we parked up at the wedding venue, the spectacular Monastery in Gorton on the outskirts of Manchester, and took a taxi into town, which avoided having to worry about parking.

Eastnor Castle is a proper real-life, truly awesome, fairy tale wedding Castle!  What an incredible place for Stella and Chris to get married and hold their wedding reception.  Eastnor Castle sits in beautiful Hereford countryside near Ledbury and not far from Malvern.  It is a grand stately home built by a Victorian industrialist and has remained a family home to this day.
