Lizzie and Shaun – Sandhole Oak Barn, Cheshire
Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photography
Lizzie and Shaun are Buxtonians, and Lizzie did her Bridal prep. at her Mum and Dad’s house in Buxton, which made for an easy start to the day for us. When we arrived, hair and make-up were well underway. Fellow Peaks and Dales Weddings member Angie from Bliss Beuaty was doing the girls make-up and Tina of Beau Hair was fixing their hair.
Lizzie’s dress came from Gracie Bleu Bridal in Buxton, and her flowers were provided by “Flowers for You”, making it a Buxton full house. Always good to be working with the best!
A bridal portrait of Lizzie bathed in beautiful window light in the living room, currently undergoing restoration and re-decoration.
The wedding ceremony and reception were both held at Sandhole Oak Barn, over the border in Cheshire. This was the first time we had actually photographed a wedding at this venue, although we had heard a lot of good things about it. As we arrived, it looked as though rain was going to be the order of the day, so we encouraged the guys outside for photographs before it really got started.
We were lucky enough to get a few quick photos of Lizzie and her girls, even though it was spitting with rain by now. Then, straight indoors and into the ceremony room.
Lizzie and Shaun had chosen two readings for their ceremony, the second of which was a poem about love written by Lizzie herself and read by her mum. For the life of me I can’t remember how “Red Ted” came into it, but I’m sure he got a mention somewhere.
Indoor confetti (only) at this venue!
Every wedding photographer worries about how he is going to get the big group shot – especially if the weather is bad. As luck had it it couldn’t have been easier. The rain eased for a few minutes, the guests stepped outside. Click. The guests went back inside. We were lucky for once!
The wooden porch at the barn entrance served as the perfect place for the smaller groups.
The barn looked great set up for the wedding breakfast.
After dinner Lizzie and Shaun took us for a short walk around to get some Bride and Groom photos. We had been putting this off in the hope the weather would improve. Which it had – slightly. After a few portraits in their suite they braved it and walked down to the lakeside.
Lizzie and Shaun shunned the traditional first dance in favour of a live Ceileigh band to get everyone up dancing.
All in all, a brilliant wedding day in spite of the weather. Thank you to Lizzie and Shaun and your families for having us at your wedding.
