Stella and Chris – Eastnor Castle Wedding
Eastnor Castle is a proper real-life, truly awesome, fairy tale wedding Castle! What an incredible place for Stella and Chris to get married and hold their wedding reception. Eastnor Castle sits in beautiful Hereford countryside near Ledbury and not far from Malvern. It is a grand stately home built by a Victorian industrialist and has remained a family home to this day.
Eastnor Castle Weddings
The difficulty with photographing a wedding in a building like Eastnor Castle is that it has just too many beautiful rooms, gardens, corners and views and we could have easily spent two days using all the available locations for photographs. Lucky for us, Stella and Chris had done their homework in advance of the wedding day and identified some of the places they wanted to use. Others we just found as we went along!
Stella and Chris have provided us with a list of their favourite images for us to prioitise in their wedding album, so I thought it fitting to use their choice of images in this blog post.
Eastnor Castle is big. I mean huge. So big it is difficult to get a photograph of the whole frontage with our 24mm wide angle lens. And not surprisingly it’s got some fabulous big rooms and spaces inside as well. Below is the great hall.
The following images are Stella and Chris’s choices!
This staircase is in an atrium with light coming in from overhead. The colour version looks great as well.
The Gothic drawing room used for the wedding ceremony was designed by famous architect Augustus Pugin whose work also included the interior design of the Palace of Westminster.
After the ceremony, Stella and Chris led all the guests down to the lawn for a group picture. We were able to get the shot with the gardens and part of the castle in the background.
Stella and Chris really wanted this photo with the ornamental lake and the Castle in the background. This meant jumping in a Range Rover provided by the Castle and driving off-road through the grounds and woods to get to the far side of the lake. Quite an adventure, especially for Lois who had to bump around in the boot!
I love this staircase shot! It is lit only with available light from the main entrance doors at the foot of the stairs and a smidgeon of candlelight!
Check out this cake!
Apparently Stella and Chris have a long standing tradition of creating “catalogue poses” with their friends.
Stella and Chris are both car enthusiasts. To understand this image, you need to know the engine in the Audi R8 is in the boot!
Stalked by the castle cat.
While we were waiting for the fireworks – a surprise for Chris arranged by Stella – we set up this shot with bride and groom, castle and cars. As Stella and Chris had put away a couple of glasses of champagne by this time, Lois was given the job of driving the cars into position, which I suppose was some compensation for having to ride in the boot earlier in the day!
This next image was our choice, and the set wouldn’t be complete without at least one shot from the firework finale!
All images by Dave and Lois!
