Weddings Blog

If you have been to one of the big wedding shows, you will have some idea about the many ways in which you can design your wedding to be a reflection of your own personalities. As photographers, we never cease to be amazed by the effort and creativity couples put into making their perfect wedding day, often with the help and support of family and friends.

Here’s some Blog articles to give you a flavour of some of these great days, and how we try our best to record them.  As the saying goes, “every picture tells a story”, and this is never more true than at a wedding.  The photographs we take on your big day will allow you re-live the story of your wedding for many years to come.

Jenna and Ben’s wedding at Hilltop Country House

The day after Stella and Chris’s wedding at Eastnor Castle, we were up bright and early and on the road again – this time to Hilltop Country House near Macclesfield for the wedding of Jenna and Ben. The morning started a little damp and overcast but improved as the day went on. In the evening were were treated to a beautiful sunset, and we were able to take advantage of the warm light and the lovely views and scenery from the top of the hill.

Stella and Chris – Eastnor Castle Wedding

Eastnor Castle is a proper real-life, truly awesome, fairy tale wedding Castle!  What an incredible place for Stella and Chris to get married and hold their wedding reception.  Eastnor Castle sits in beautiful Hereford countryside near Ledbury and not far from Malvern.  It is a grand stately home built by a Victorian industrialist and has remained a family home to this day.

Lizzie and Shaun – Sandhole Oak Barn, Cheshire

Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photography

Lizzie did her Bridal prep. at her Mum and Dad’s house, which made for an easy start to the day for us.  When we arrived, hair and make-up were well underway. Fellow Peaks and Dales Weddings member Angie from Bliss Beuaty was doing the girls make-up and Tina of Beau Hair was fixing their hair.

Faye and Danny – Mere Court Hotel, Cheshire

Mere Court Wedding Photographer

Faye and Danny’s wedding was our third visit to Mere Court this year, and I’m sorry to say the last of our present bookings at this venue that has quickly become a favourite of ours. Hopefully, we’ll pick up some more bookings here soon!

Sophie and Kyle – Mere Court, Cheshire

Mere Court Wedding Photography

Every now and then it happens, and when it does we just have to go with the flow.  Rain, and from the outset it looked as though rain was going to set in for the day. Did Sophie and Kyle allow the rain to spoil their wedding day? Absolutely not!

Emma and Paul – Mere Court Hotel, Cheshire

Mere Court Hotel Wedding Photography

This was our first wedding at the Mere Court Hotel, (although we have photographed several at the Mere Country Club just down the road) and what a splendid wedding venue it is!  Lois and I were especially lucky to have been there when the cherry blossom trees were in full bloom, although to be honest, we could have done without the showers!

Kathryn and James – Storrs Hall, Windermere

Storrs Hall Wedding Photography

It’s always good to have an excuse to visit the Lake District, and what better excuse than to photograph the wedding of Kathryn and James at the marvelous Storrs Hall on the shores of Windermere. Storrs Hall has been redocorated and re-furbished and it is a top class wedding venue and a joy to photograph. The fact that it’s a two minute walk to the lakeside with stunning views across the Lake District fells is a bonus.

Victoria and Jonny – Nunsmere Hall Wedding

Nunsmere Hall Wedding Photography

Our first visit to Nunsmere Hall to photograph the wedding of Vicky and Jonny. Although the rain decided to come down at the most inconvenient of times, fortunately it was only in short bursts, and we were still able to get outside for photographs.

Vicky and Nick – Arley Hall

Arley Hall Wedding Photography

Vicky and Nick’s wedding took place at the fabulous Arley Hall in Cheshire back in July.  It was a gorgeous day and all of Vicky and Nick’s family and friends enjoyed it to the full. Arley hall is a fantastic place to get married and lends itself to great wedding photography at any time of year, but especially in the summer months when the gardens are at their best.

Our day started at Vicky and Nick’s Manchester home, where we hooked up with Vicky and her bridesmaids before the wedding.

The Grosvenor at Pulford Wedding

Deborah and Tom – The Grosvenor Hotel, Pulford

Deborah and Tom’s wedding was our first wedding of the year in very early January, and delightfully started out in Wales before heading to the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel.  Lois came with us to this wedding, and we were all on our toes throughout the day as there were lots of opportunities for great photographs.

Rebekah and Graham – The Mere Golf and Country Club, Cheshire

We first met Rebekah and Graham at the Tatton Wedding Show in January, and they were hooked when they saw our pictures of brides and grooms on tractors!  We met again on a lovely summer evening for their engagement shoot, (when we had a first glimpse of their vintage tractors) and this is the picture they chose to be the centerpiece in their ‘guest signature frame’.

Hannah and Kevin – Adlington Hall, Macclesfield, Cheshire

Hannah and Kevin chose Adlington Hall near Macclesfield in Cheshire for their wedding ceremony on 27th July, and what a great choice it was.  The Great Hall at Adlington was built at the end of the fifteenth century, and is a fabulous example of Tudor architecture. And what’s more, the sun shone and the rain stayed away – our first dry wedding after a run of nine wet and windy ones, and great to be outside in the sunshine for a little light wedding photography!

Michaela and Matt – Samlesbury Hall near Preston

Michaela and Matt were married on 26th May at Samlesbury Hall near Preston. Theirs was the last wedding this year (so far) that the rain didn’t fall in buckets! In fact the sun shone all day and we were fighting for shade most of the time. Photographers are never happy!

Samantha and Mark – Oakley Hall, Shropshire

Samantha and Mark were married at Oakley Hall in Shropshire. Turned out we were in for a treat and some great wedding photography opportunities. Unusually for us, the day started with “Groom prep.” at Mark’s mum’s house in Market Drayton.

Debbie and James’ Wedding at Ruthin Castle

Ruthin Castle wedding photography

For wedding photography you can’t beat a good castle! We have photographed weddings at Lumley Castle in Durham for Cathy and Tim’s wedding, and last year we photographed Emily and Dan’s wedding at Comlongon Castle in Dumfries.
